Job summary

A leading recruitment company is looking for an engineer to work at the head office in Ashford and travel internationally for installation and commissioning of bespoke machinery. This role requires HNC or higher in engineering, practical skills, and a willingness to travel several weeks per year. The successful candidate will be involved in all aspects of machinery installation and will provide technical support to customers.

  • Practical problem-solving and mechanical skills are essential.

Job description

The successful engineer will be working from the company’s head office based in Ashford for most of their team during the machine build phase.

Once the bespoke machinery has been manufactured, you will then travel to customer sites to install and commission their machines. You will be expected to travel to commission machines and provide technical support to customers worldwide on average 3 – 5 times per year, for between 2 and 5 weeks each time.

37 hours per week, working 08.00 – 16.30 Monday to Thursday, and 08.00 to 13.00 Friday.

Key responsibilities:

  • All aspects of installation and assembly of heavy machinery
  • Visiting customers’ premises for the purpose of installing and testing equipment
  • Inspection
  • Site maintenance

The Candidate

  • HNC or higher in mechanical or electrical engineering
  • Practical problem-solving skills
  • Practical mechanical skills and experience
  • Experience in hydraulics, pneumatics and electrical
  • Ability to work independently
  • Willingness to travel
