Job summary

Careys invites applications for a Trainee Estimator based in the Glasgow Office. Join our Estimating department and support the Managing Estimator with tender measurements, Bills of Quantities, and rate estimates.

Candidates should hold a degree in civil engineering, quantity surveying, or construction management and be keen to develop in a collaborative, long-term growth environment at Careys.

Qualifications

• Degree in civil engineering, quantity surveying or construction management.
• Familiarity with measurement methods (SMM7).
• Proficiency with Bluebeam or ACC Take Off Tool.
• Experience with Candy estimating software.

Responsibilities

• Review scope of works, drawings and specs.
• Measure and take off quantities using Bluebeam or ACC Take Off Tool.
• Prepare bills of quantities and rate items.
• Compile supplier/sub-contractor enquiries for tender buying.
• Work from first principles to rate items within bills of quantities.
• Participate in mid-bid, tender reviews and client meetings.
• Attend client meetings including pre/post contract interviews.
• Upskill and share knowledge within the team.
