2. Technical Proficiency: Strong ability to read and interpret construction, fabrication, and engineering drawings, as well as technical specifications.
3. Project Delivery Expertise: Solid understanding of practical project execution with the ability to optimize costs for efficient delivery.
4. Risk Assessment: Proficient in identifying project risks to ensure they are appropriately addressed and allocated during the tender process.
5. Basic Engineering Knowledge: A foundational understanding of engineering principles and their practical application is required. Training, including overseas courses with manufacturers and material providers, can be provided for the right candidate.

Role Overview:

As a Junior Engineer at Joseph Gallagher Limited’s Retford office, your responsibilities will include:

• ITT Document Review: Reviewing Invitation to Tender (ITT) documents and identifying key tender requirements to ensure compliance.
• Material Take-Off Support: Assisting the Estimating team in conducting material take-offs from ITT documents.
• Bid Compliance: Working with the Estimating team to ensure all bids align with project specifications.
• Project Scheduling: Using Microsoft Project or P6 to develop project schedules.
• Estimation Software: Gaining proficiency in the Conquest estimating program.
• Cost Library Management: Keeping the cost library database updated with current market rates.
• Supplier Engagement: Identifying new suppliers and maintaining relationships with existing ones to secure competitive rates for materials and equipment.
• Tender Review: Actively participating in weekly tender review meetings or conference calls.
• Submission Document Compilation: Preparing compliant tender submission documents, including work programs, methodology, pricing, and contractual terms.
• Technical Contributions: Assisting in the development of design reports, technical specifications, and contract documents.
• Material Selection & Sourcing: Identifying and procuring materials to support project requirements.
• Technical & Engineering Support: Providing engineering expertise to support project execution.
• Site Visits: Conducting site visits to gain practical experience and understand company expectations.
• Commercial Training: Receiving training in contracts and commercial management.
• Company Integration: Participating in the JGL Life induction program to align with company culture and values.
