Job summary

Work Wales in Cardiff is seeking a Junior Buyer/Assistant Buyer to join the procurement team on a full-time basis. You will create, process and monitor purchase orders, communicate with suppliers to track deliveries, and support stock management and replenishment activities.

Working closely with experienced Buyers, you will receive mentoring and gain hands-on experience across procurement tasks, supplier negotiations and cost-reduction projects, with a view to developing a long-term career in

Qualifications

• Some previous experience in purchasing, procurement, buying, stock control or supplier facing environments.
• Excellent communication and organisational abilities.
• Strong attention to detail with good commercial awareness.
• Comfortable managing competing tasks with a degree of autonomy.
• Good working knowledge of Excel would be beneficial.
• Interest in studying towards CIPS qualifications would be advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Create, process and monitor purchase orders.
• Communicate with suppliers to track deliveries and resolve issues.
• Support day-to-day purchasing and procurement activities.
• Monitor stock levels and assist with replenishment planning.
• Support supplier discussions, negotiations and cost-reduction projects.
• Keep purchasing and supplier information up to date within the ERP system.
• Produce reports and maintain procurement records.
• Develop relationships with suppliers and internal teams.
