About the role

As a Junior Buyer in this area, you will be a highly motivated person who uses their knowledge to plan and buy the best ranges for our customers within the wider Fashion category. Your remit will be to deliver agreed KPIs including sales, profit, stock, margin, and customer metrics. You will analyze commercial input and market trend data to develop and bring to market own-brand and/or branded ranges that offer a competitive advantage.

  • Salary: £32,600.00 - £50,500.00
  • Contract type: Roles in Womenswear Permanent and Direct to Customer Fashion Fixed Term 12 months
  • Working pattern/flexible working: The Partnership has adopted a hybrid working approach, allowing a mix of office and home working based on personal needs and business requirements. Typically, 2-3 days a week in the office, including Wednesdays and Thursdays, with additional ad-hoc meetings.
  • Location: This role is based at our Pimlico Head Office.
Key responsibilities
  • Analyze commercial input and market data to develop a category assortment that appeals to the John Lewis & Partners customer base.
  • Monitor Partner NPS and customer satisfaction metrics to assess the impact of assortment decisions, driving sales revenue growth through effective planning and promotions.
  • Collaborate with Marketing, Online, and Store Design teams to deliver a compelling brand portfolio.
  • Make decisions on product assortment, sourcing, brand positioning, pricing, and margins in line with category and customer strategies.
  • Work with merchandising to make seasonal trading and volume decisions, including commercial terms and product lifecycle management with suppliers.
Essential skills/experience
  • Experience in buying, product development, range building, supplier negotiation, or critical path management.
  • Experience managing brand relationships across various commercial terms.
  • Demonstrated collaborative approach across teams.
  • Experience working with brands in buying roles.
  • Passion for the Category.
