Location: Long Eaton, Nottingham, NG10
Job Type: Permanent
Sector: Technical Sales / Engineering / Healthcare / Manufacturing
Are you looking for a Junior Business Development Manager job in Long Eaton, Nottingham where you can develop a long-term career within a world-leading multinational business? This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially minded individual with customer-facing experience, or a graduate looking to establish a career in Business Development, Technical Sales or B2B Sales.
Working for a global leader in engineered polymer solutions, you will take on a highly proactive and outward-facing sales position, developing relationships with customers across the UK and internationally. The role is particularly suited to someone who enjoys meeting people, understanding customer requirements and identifying new commercial opportunities.
You do not need to be an engineer or technical specialist for this position. Full training and ongoing support will be provided, including access to technical specialists within the business.
This is a proactive, customer-facing Business Development position rather than an office-based sales role. A significant proportion of your time will be spent meeting existing and potential customers, visiting prospects and identifying opportunities for business growth.
You will initially be given a selection of accounts to work with, meaning you will have an established starting point rather than being expected to build an entire customer base from scratch. This provides the opportunity to learn the business, develop your sales approach and gradually take ownership of new commercial opportunities.
The role involves a consultative and relatively complex sales process. You will be selling technical products and solutions, often requiring you to understand customer requirements, work with internal technical specialists and develop relationships over a longer sales cycle.
Your responsibilities will include:
Developing new business opportunities with customers across the UK and Europe.
Visiting existing customers to strengthen relationships and identify further opportunities.
Proactively identifying and approaching potential new customers.
Managing early-stage customer development and opening new commercial relationships.
Building relationships with multinational and well-known Healthcare customers.
Understanding customer requirements and working with internal technical specialists to develop suitable solutions.
Supporting a consultative, longer-cycle sales process.
Identifying opportunities for growth within existing accounts.
Managing your own travel and customer visit schedule.
Supporting commercial activity involving technically complex products.
Potentially becoming involved in bids, tenders and other structured sales processes.
Representing the business professionally when meeting customers and prospects.
Working collaboratively with internal teams to ensure customers receive the appropriate technical and commercial support.
This is a role for someone who enjoys being out in the field and interacting with customers. You will need to be comfortable with regular UK travel and prepared to undertake international travel as part of the position.
The company is open to candidates from a range of backgrounds. You may already have experience in Business Development, B2B Sales, Account Management, Customer Service, Technical Sales or a related commercial position.
Alternatively, you may be a commercially minded graduate or someone with customer-facing experience who is now looking to move into a more proactive Business Development career.
You do not need to be an engineer. While you will be working with technical products, comprehensive training will be provided and you will have access to technical specialists within the organisation.
Experience or knowledge within Healthcare, Medical, Pharmaceutical or Scientific industries would be useful, although this is not essential.
The successful Junior Business Development Manager is likely to be:
A confident and clear communicator who enjoys speaking with customers.
Commercially aware and motivated by developing new business.
Comfortable building relationships with customers and prospects.
Self-motivated and proactive in identifying opportunities.
Resilient and adaptable when dealing with a busy sales environment.
Comfortable managing a travel-heavy schedule.
Professional and credible when representing a global business.
Able to work effectively in a target-driven environment.
Interested in developing technical and commercial knowledge.
Able to demonstrate integrity, professionalism and alignment with company values.
You will also need a full UK driving licence and passport, as the position involves UK and international travel.
This Junior Business Development Manager job in Long Eaton offers much more than a traditional entry-level sales position.
You will join a global business with an established reputation in engineered polymer solutions and have the opportunity to work with recognised organisations within the Healthcare sector.
The company also provides the support needed to develop your technical and commercial knowledge. You are not expected to arrive as a technical expert; instead, you will be supported by experienced colleagues and technical specialists while developing your own customer-facing and Business Development skills.
For someone looking to build a career in Business Development, Technical Sales or commercial sales, this could provide a strong platform for longer-term progression.
Key benefits of the opportunity include:
Work for a world-leading multinational business.
Develop a career within technical and B2B sales.
Excellent internal team structure and technical support.
Full training provided – an engineering background is not required.
Work with major customers within the Healthcare sector.
A highly outward-facing role with significant customer interaction.
Exposure to UK and international Business Development.
Opportunity to develop both commercial and technical knowledge.
Existing accounts provided to help establish you in the role.
Strong longer-term career potential.
