Job summary

Helical is building a virtual AI lab for biology and seeks a Junior Business Development Associate to drive outreach across pharma and biotech. You will own research, list building, and the sales operations that enable conversations with big pharma, while learning to tailor demos and run campaigns.

You will work directly with the founders and head of sales, shaping how the platform is positioned and sold. This is an early stage hire with growth toward an Account Executive role.

Qualifications

• 0 to 2 years in business development, sales, consulting or research.
• Real curiosity about science and AI, and the ability to grasp a new research area quickly and explain it simply.
• Clear, concise writing that adapts to a scientist, a BD lead or an executive.
• You follow AI and biology news and can explain why developments matter.
• A strong sense of ownership and initiative in a fast‑paced, early‑stage environment.
• Willingness to build your own workflows and use AI tools to work faster.

Responsibilities

• Dig into pharma/biotech publications, talks, patents, and trials to identify where Helical can meet drug discovery needs.
• Build account and contact lists across pharma, biotech, and academic institutions.
• Write sharp outreach via email and LinkedIn and follow up with consistency.
• Own relationships with pharma stakeholders and track outreach performance to improve messaging.
• Coordinate with science team and founders before customer meetings to tailor demos and case studies.
• Shape sales materials including decks, case studies, proposals and account briefs.
• Maintain pipeline hygiene in HubSpot with accurate stages, owners, next steps and dates.
