Job summary

BBC Nations is seeking a Journalism Coordinator to support the Saturday and Sunday daytime show across Cambridgeshire, Norfolk and Suffolk. You will assist the presenter and producer, set up content for weekend broadcasts and help deliver eight hours of live programming each weekend.

The role emphasises teamwork, creative storytelling, and a strong understanding of multisector media, including social media, to engage listeners and enhance the show’s reach.

JOB BAND: B

CONTRACT TYPE: Permenent, Part Time - 28 hours per week

DEPARTMENT: BBC Nations

LOCATION: BBC Radio Cambridgeshire – Office Based Role.

PROPOSED SALARY RANGE: £24,500 - £27,000 per annum depending on relevant skills, knowledge and experience. The expected salary range for this role reflects internal benchmarking and external market insights.

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

This is an opportunity to join our team as the Journalism Coordinator for the shared Saturday and Sunday daytime show – presented by Thordis Friedrikson across Cambridgeshire, Norfolk and Suffolk. The show is packed with weekend lifestyle features and puts the audience at the heart of the show. As journalism coordinator you will play an important role in supporting the delivery of this popular show. You will support the presenter and producer during the on-air programmes and help set up content for the weekend shows on Thursday and Friday.

YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND IMPACT

• As part of the production team, you will also come up with ideas for stories and treatments, set up guests, write scripts and provide research background.

YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

ESSENTIAL CRITERIA:

• Ability to work on your own initiative and as part of a team whilst staying calm under pressure.
• Be able to come up with creative treatments to enable brilliant storytelling.
• Experience of outputting live radio programmes.
• Experience of how to make the most of our social media and digital opportunities.
• Experience of working with presenters – motivating them, encouraging them and being able to support a live studio environment.

DESIRABLE :

• Knowledge of Cambridgeshire, Norfolk and Suffolk.
• A good understanding of our target audience.
