Job summary

BBC Extend is hiring a Journalism Coordinator (Part Time) for BBC Radio Cambridgeshire, Cambridge. This permanent, part-time role is 28 hours per week with a salary of £24,500–£27,000 per annum depending on skills and experience.

You will support the presenter and producer during on-air programmes, help set up content for weekend shows on Thursday and Friday, line up guests and callers, and compile travel news for the presenter to read.

PROPOSED SALARY RANGE: £24,500 - £27,000 per annum depending on relevant skills, knowledge and experience. The expected salary range for this role reflects internal benchmarking and external market insights.

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

This is an opportunity to join our team as the Journalism Coordinator for the shared Saturday and Sunday daytime show – presented by Thordis Friedrikson across Cambridgeshire, Norfolk and Suffolk. The show is packed with weekend lifestyle features and puts the audience at the heart of the show. As journalism coordinator you will play an important role in supporting the delivery of this popular show. You will support the presenter and producer during the on‑air programmes and help set up content for the weekend shows on Thursday and Friday.

You will be able to identify guests and stories that matter to our audiences across Suffolk, Cambridgeshire and Suffolk – and deliver this content to the highest standards. You should also have a good understanding of how we can embrace multi‑media to engage with our audience and encourage listeners to be part of the show.

YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND IMPACT
  • You’ll help the producer and presenter prepare the weekend show and then output eight hours of live programming each week.
