Job summary

BBC Cambridge is seeking a Journalism Coordinator for the shared Saturday and Sunday daytime show, presented by Thordis Friedrikson across Cambridgeshire, Norfolk and Suffolk. You will support the presenter and producer during on-air programmes and help set up content for weekend editions.

You will output eight hours of live programming weekly, work with the team on multi-platform content, and help produce, edit and research stories with a proactive, newsroom-driven mindset.

Qualifications

• Ability to work on your own initiative and as part of a team under pressure.
• Ability to craft creative treatments for engaging storytelling.
• Experience of outputting live radio programmes.
• Experience using social media and digital opportunities to extend reach.
• Experience of working with presenters, motivating them and supporting a live studio.

Responsibilities

• Help the producer and presenter prepare the weekend show and output eight hours of live programming each week.
• Collaborate with colleagues and support a multiplatform approach across three counties.
• Produce and edit audio, and manage live sources during transmission.
• Line up guests and chat to callers, prepping them to go on air.
• Compile travel news for the presenter to read.
• Generate story ideas, set up guests, write scripts and provide research background.
