The University of York seeks a skilled maintenance technician to join its multi-skilled team. You will perform reactive and planned maintenance, installations, alterations and repairs across the University estate, ensuring safety and quality in every task.

You will also oversee contracted work and participate in an on-call rota to provide out-of-hours support, helping to keep critical facilities operational for staff and students.

Competenze

• Craft trade apprenticeship completed to City and Guilds Level in core trade
• Experience in reactive and planned maintenance and small works
• Ability to implement practical techniques in relevant work area
• Current UK driving licence
• Knowledge of safety regulations including COSHH and risk assessment
• Experience using technology/digital aids to manage tasks and record information (CAFМ system)

Role

As a key member of our multi-skilled maintenance team, you will undertake reactive and planned maintenance, installations, alterations, and repairs across the University estate, while also overseeing contracted maintenance and repair work. In addition, this role participates in a standby and on-call rota to provide essential out-of-hours and weekend cover, responding to business-critical operational issues as they arise.

Skills, Experience & Qualification needed

• Craft trade apprentice trained to City and Guilds Level in the core trade or equivalent training and experience, for example: Joinery: NVQ Level 2-3 or equivalent
• Knowledge and experience of working on reactive maintenance, planned maintenance and small works
• Knowledge and ability to implement practical techniques used in relevant work area
• Current UK driving licence
• Knowledge of relevant safety regulations & procedures, for example COSHH and risk assessment
• Experience in the use of technology/digital aids to manage tasks and the analysing and recording of information (e.g: from a CAFM system)
