The University of York is seeking a mechanically biased Estates Operations & Maintenance team member to join its Directorate of Estates. You will support central utility infrastructure activities, focusing on reliability of equipment and providing specialist assistance across disciplines.

The role involves maintenance of the district heating network, natural gas boilers and a CHP plant, with occasional out-of-hours support for campus emergencies.

Qualifications

• NVQ in Plumbing and Heating required.
• Hands-on experience with HVAC systems preferred.
• Role requires mechanically biased tradesperson with focus on safe maintenance.

Your responsibilities include enhancing equipment reliability, providing specialist assistance, and supporting the maintenance team in various disciplines. This role would suit candidates with commercial Plumbing and Heating experience.

Skills, Experience & Qualification Needed

This post requires a mechanically biased tradesperson to safely maintain the University buildings' infrastructure and equipment with particular attention to the University's large district heating network that includes two energy centres containing natural gas boilers and a Combined Heat and Power plant. You may be required to offer out-of-hours support during emergencies that affect campus infrastructure.

Essential qualifications for this role include an NVQ in Plumbing and Heating and ideally hands on experience with HVAC systems.

This full-time role is offered on an open-ended contract.
