Job summary

Places for People is hiring a qualified Joiner to perform joinery installations and repairs within domestic properties across the MK area. You’ll operate a company van, travel between jobs, and work to agreed standards while safeguarding customers’ homes.

The role requires NVQ Level 2 in Joinery, prior joinery experience (preferably in social housing), and a Full UK driving licence. A stable, secure employment with welfare benefits is offered.

Qualifications

  • NVQ Level 2 in Joinery or equivalent is required.
  • Experience as a Joiner, ideally in social housing or domestic properties.
  • Hold a Full UK driving licence.
  • Based within MK postcode area to cover the patch.

Responsibilities

  • Carry out joinery installations and repairs in domestic properties.
  • Fit and finish doors, kitchens, flooring and internal fittings.
  • Work to specifications, reports and agreed standards.
  • Protect customers' homes and belongings during work.
  • Coordinate with supervisors, schedulers and wider teams to meet deadlines.
  • Record work activity and complete required documentation.
  • Support apprentices and contribute to team KPIs.

What you'll be doing
  • Carrying out joinery installations and repairs within domestic properties
  • Completing work such as doors, kitchens, flooring and internal fittings
  • Working to specifications, reports, and agreed standards
  • Protecting Customers' homes and belongings while completing work
  • Collaborating with supervisors, schedulers and wider teams to meet deadlines
  • Recording work activity and completing required documentation
  • Supporting apprentices and contributing to team performance and KPIs
What your day looks like
  • A structured schedule covering repairs and maintenance work
  • Travelling between jobs in your company van
  • Working independently or with a team of other tradespeople
  • Engaging directly with Customers in their homes
  • Completing work efficiently while maintaining quality and compliance standards
Where you'll work

You will be working across:

  • Occupied homes
  • Empty (void) properties
  • A range of domestic properties within your local area
  • Environments involving vulnerable Customers
Essential Criteria (you need to meet all of these to be shortlisted)
  • NVQ Level 2 or equivalent in Joinery
  • Experience working as a Joiner, ideally within social housing or domestic properties
  • Full UK driving licence
  • Due to the area this patch covers, you will need to be based within the MK postcode
Nice to have (not essential)
  • Experience working across multiple trades
  • IT literacy or willingness to learn digital systems
