Job description

NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is one of the largest healthcare systems in the UK, employing around 40,000 staff across a wide range of clinical and non-clinical roles. We deliver acute hospital, primary, community, and mental health services to a population of over 1.15 million, expanding to 2.2 million with regional and national services.

Position Details

The shift pattern for this position is Monday to Friday, 08:00 to 16:00.

Job Responsibilities

1. Provide joinery services, including minor building cross-trade skills such as tiling, glazing, drainage, and roofing, to meet NHS GG&C Health Board needs.
2. Operate an efficient and effective Estates Service within healthcare facilities to ensure the safe delivery of patient care.
3. Deliver planned maintenance, repair, and installation services that maintain quality and value for money.
4. Ensure a safe maintenance service for all building and construction-related infrastructure.
5. Assist in developing the Estates function into a customer-focused service.
6. Adopt a flexible, integrated approach to Estates Service delivery.
7. Hold recognized and registered EITB or CITB (or equivalent) craft apprenticeship or City & Guilds qualification.
8. Be a competent tradesman with extensive relevant experience, preferably including healthcare sector experience.

Department Overview

The Estates Department facilitates uninterrupted quality healthcare by maintaining a 24/7 safe, comfortable, and compliant built environment, supporting high-quality clinical care. This includes executing planned preventive maintenance, reactive repairs, and installation of critical plant and equipment, as well as contributing to infection control and supporting clinical service development projects.
