Job summary

Chesterfield Borough Council is seeking a sweeper driver for the Environmental Services team. The role involves operating mechanical road sweepers on public highways and council land, with early starts on a rota that includes weekends and bank holidays.

You will perform daily vehicle checks and maintain equipment, working outdoors in all weather conditions. The position requires a Driving Licence suitable for the vehicles operated and a Driver CPC, or willingness to obtain one, plus a medical

• Work independently and as part of a wider operational team.
• Maintain high standards of service delivery and customer care.
• Contribute to the development, reputation and commercialisation of the service.
• Work outdoors in all weather conditions.
• Work shifts on a rota, including weekends and bank holidays.

Job description

Sweeper driver post in the Environmental Services team at Chesterfield Borough Council, a permanent full-time role. The work is operating mechanical road sweepers on public highways, footways and other council land to keep the borough's streets and public spaces clean. The job is outdoors in all weather and runs on a rota with early starts from 4am, weekends and bank holidays. Applicants need a driving licence for the vehicles and a driver CPC, or be willing to obtain one; visa sponsorship is not available.
