Job summary

The Lanes Group, the UK’s largest independent provider of water and wastewater solutions, is looking for a Drainage Assistant at our Chester Depot. You will work in a two-person team to attend drainage issues, perform blockages clearance, cleansing, and reactive call-outs during a 40-hour week from Monday to Friday.

Ask: Full UK driving licence (no more than 6 penalty points), enjoy outdoor work, good communication, and teamwork.

Qualifications

• Interest in drainage, utilities, or civil engineering.
• Hands-on approach and willingness to work outdoors in all conditions.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.
• Basic computer skills and a desire to learn new software.

Responsibilities

• Ensure all H&S requirements are followed
• Communicate with customers about scheduled works and address any concerns.
• Assist in identifying drainage issues, including blockages, structural defects, infiltration, and root ingress.
• Operate high-pressure water jetting equipment to clean and clear drains, sewers, and pipework.
• Remove waste materials and prevent build-up in wastewater systems.
• Perform routine equipment checks and maintenance to ensure readiness.
• Support CCTV inspections to assess the condition of underground pipes and sewers.
• Assist in emergency response situations, including flooding and urgent drainage issues.
• Learn to complete job sheets, risk assessments, and method statements (RAMS) under supervision.

About the Role:

Due to company growth, we are looking to appoint a Drainage Assistant to join our Chester Depot. Working as part of a two person teams, you will be responsible for attending drainage related issues such as blockages, pipe clearing, cleansing and reactive call outs.

• Location: Chester
• Hours: Monday to Friday – 40 hours per week
• Up to £13 per hour
• Weekly pay

Lanes Group will provide all training required for the role such as high-pressure water jetting, confined space, spill response, etc.
