Job summary

CBSbutler Holdings Limited trading as CBSbutler is seeking a Java developer for a 12-month contract in Newcastle with hybrid working. The role requires cloud services development, OpenShift/Kubernetes expertise, and frontend Angular experience within an Agile team.

Ideal candidates will have SC clearance or be eligible, strong unit testing skills, and hands-on experience with Quarkus, Tekton, ArgoCD, and SonarQube to support secure, scalable software delivery.

• Develop reusable patterns and encourage innovation that will enhance team velocity.
• Contribute to quality assurance by writing unit and automated tests.
• Conduct design and code reviews to ensure code meets best practices, unit testing, security, scalability, and maintainability guidelines.
• Ensure code is documented and knowledge shared.
• Participate in sprint planning, reviews, and daily stand-ups in an Agile environment, contributing to agile-based estimating.
• Work with the scrum team to meet sprint commitments.

We are a collaborative, forward-thinking Agile Scrum team working on innovative geospatial software using the latest cloud-based technologies. This is a 12-month initial contract based at our Newcastle office, with hybrid working available and flexible arrangements in place. The successful candidate is expected to be in the office 3 days a week and may work 2 days from home. The role is inside IR35.
