Job summary

Salt is seeking a Senior Java Engineer for a 12-month contract in London. You will migrate a legacy application to an event-based, service-oriented architecture within a banking, AI-augmented delivery environment. The role requires server-side deployment and collaboration with architecture and delivery stakeholders, starting ASAP with a hybrid on-site pattern.

The project operates in a regulated setting, offering exposure to modern tech and an enterprise-grade delivery model.

Responsibilities

• Work as part of an Agile development team to migrate a legacy application to a new event-based and service-oriented architecture.
• Collaborate with the Solution Architect, Technical Lead, Application Architects, and other stakeholders.
• Lead delivery of a coherent end-to-end IT solution that meets functional and non-functional requirements.
• Ensure the solution complies with Enterprise engineering and architecture standards.
• Ensure end-to-end consistency of solution delivery across platforms and teams by organising walkthroughs with delivery teams.
• Ensure the solution meets design and development guidelines and standards.
• Undertake hands-on development in the new technologies used.
• Coach and support more junior colleagues.

We are hiring a Senior Java Engineer for a 12‑month contract role based in London with a hybrid working pattern of two days per week on site, requiring around eight days on site per month. This is an AI‑augmented delivery role within banking, focused on server‑side deployment and migration work. The day rate is €600 to €700 inside IR35, with an ASAP start. We offer the opportunity to work on a major legacy migration into an event‑based, service‑oriented architecture while collaborating with experienced architecture and delivery stakeholders in a regulated environment.
