Hippo is recruiting Intermediate Java Developers to join our Hippo Herd. You will deliver high-quality software for public and private sector clients, collaborating with colleagues to design and implement solutions and manage deployment pipelines.

You will present prototypes and progress to stakeholders, build strong team relationships, and share best practices within the engineering community. The role requires experience in Java full stack development, modern Java frameworks, RESTful services,

Qualifications

• Excellent verbal/written communication skills.
• Full development lifecycle delivering user-centred digital solutions.
• Full stack developer using core Java, CXF, Spring Boot, Jetty, Mustache, HTML, CSS & JavaScript.
• JavaScript library experience: Node/React/Angular.
• Containerisation: Docker or Kubernetes.
• RESTful API services experience.
• Agile methods: Scrum, Kanban, TDD.
• Experience designing/building native and web apps across scales.
• Public cloud (AWS or Azure) and DevOps.
• Infrastructure as Code and CI/CD tools experience.
• Gov/NHS project experience desirable.

Responsibilities

• Produce quality software for a wide range of public and private sector clients.
• Work collaboratively with colleagues to explore, design and deliver solutions to client problems.
• Design and manage software development and deployment pipelines resolving issues and potential bottlenecks.
• Present prototypes, solutions and progress clearly to stakeholders.
• Build great relationships with your team and stakeholders, ensuring challenges are overcome.
• Share best practices within Hippo’s Engineering Herd.
