Position: IT Systems and Network Engineer (3rd Line)

Type: Full Time / Permanent

Salary: £42,000 - £46,000 (Depending on experience & qualifications)

Location: Based at St Albans campus with travel to Welwyn Garden City and Borehamwood

We are seeking a talented and experienced IT Systems and Network Engineer (3rd Line) to join our existing IT Solutions Team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in supporting education-focused applications, along with expertise in implementing and supporting Microsoft Server, VMware, and Aruba networking solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide third-line IT support to meet departmental objectives.
• Support colleagues with first- and second-line support remotely and in person.
• Act as a primary contact for third-party IT infrastructure support, upgrades, and installations.
• Lead maintenance, configuration, and installation of key IT systems and hardware, and keep colleagues informed of relevant events and best practices.
• Implement robust and secure user account and security management methods.
• Lead and promote cybersecurity best practices.
• Collaborate with IT colleagues on infrastructure and systems projects throughout their lifecycle.
• Contribute expertise in supporting, designing, and developing the College’s IT infrastructure, including storage, servers, virtualization, network services, and user directories.

Required Skills:

• ITIL Foundation or equivalent experience in an SLA-based IT service environment.
• Minimum 5 years of relevant technical experience.
• Experience leading technical projects.
• In-depth understanding of managing a medium-sized Microsoft-based network, including Windows Server and Microsoft Entra ID.
• Experience with VMware and Hyper-V virtualization technologies.
• Knowledge of networking concepts.
• Knowledge of Android and iOS device management.
