HarrisHealthAlliance, a HarrisComputer company, is recruiting for a Ruby Engineer/Developer on a permanent, remote-working basis.

We’re looking for a talented developer to join our small, dynamic team to help us create and maintain a cutting-edge SaaS application. If you’re passionate about working across the stack and contributing to modern, scalable solutions, this is your chance to make a real impact. Our product is built on Ruby on Rails and runs on Kubernetes, with a focus on quality and maintainability.

What You’ll Do

  1. Maintain and Support: Monitor and resolve production issues to ensure smooth application performance.
  2. Enhance the Product: Develop new features, improve existing functionality, and contribute to product design discussions.
  3. Provide Technical Expertise: Handle advanced (3rd line) support issues and collaborate with the team to solve complex challenges.
  4. Work Across the Stack: Contribute to both the application and the infrastructure running on AWS.

What we are looking for

  • Proficiency in Ruby and Ruby on Rails, with 3+ years of experience and a total of 8+ years in professional software development.
  • Experience with JavaScript (we use Svelte in the frontend).
  • Confidence in working with SQL databases.

Desirable Skills (not mandatory but a plus):

  • Experience with cloud-based deployments and continuous delivery (e.g., Kubernetes, Docker).
  • Familiarity with Test-Driven Development (TDD) principles.
  • Knowledge of other programming or scripting languages (e.g., Go).
  • Experience deploying or managing cloud environments (e.g., AWS).

Who You Are:

  • A proactive problem-solver with a strong work ethic and a passion for continuous learning.
  • Someone who embodies our values and represents our business with professionalism. Values (harriscomputer.com)

Why You’ll Love Working With Us:

  • Work on a mature product running on Rails 7, with a modern architecture and a focus on maintainability.
  • Enjoy a fully automated testing and deployment pipeline, making development efficient and rewarding.
  • Use top-quality Macs and developer-friendly tools.
  • Collaborate on a stack that’s up-to-date and evolving, with minimal legacy components.

Please note: We do not sponsor visas. Applicants must have the right to work in the UK at the time of application. Applications from candidates who do not meet this requirement will not be considered.
