Job summary

Wigan & Leigh College is seeking an IT Support Technician to provide cross-college technical support for staff and students. You will maintain and repair IT equipment, support curriculum delivery, and troubleshoot technology across college sites.

The role requires hands-on IT experience, strong hardware/software knowledge, AV familiarity, and clear communication with users of varying technical confidence. DBS check will be conducted and flexible hours may be required.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical support to staff and students across the college.

  • Carry out routine maintenance of IT equipment and infrastructure.
  • Support hardware, software, AV and specialist technology as needed.
  • Liaise with technical specialists to support network and communication services.
  • Help resolve equipment and technical issues in learning and working spaces.
  • Work as part of the cross-college technical team.
  • Provide clear, practical technical guidance.
  • Work flexibly across college sites and changing schedules.

As our IT Support Technician, you’ll help make that happen.

You’ll provide cross-college technical support to staff and students, helping to keep IT equipment, software, AV and associated infrastructure working effectively. You’ll support curriculum delivery by preparing, maintaining and troubleshooting equipment, and by working with colleagues to resolve technical issues.

This is a practical, hands‑on role for someone with recent IT technical experience who enjoys solving problems and helping people.

You’ll need good knowledge of IT hardware and software, confidence supporting equipment and the ability to communicate clearly with users who may have different levels of technical confidence.

What you'll do
