Job summary

ECS Resource Group in the United Kingdom is seeking an IT Specialist in Cloud & Automation to drive automated infrastructure on Google Cloud Platform using Terraform, Apigee X and CI/CD pipelines.

You will build reusable modules, manage IAM and networking, and ensure repeatable deployments across development, test and production while collaborating with security, architecture and platform teams.

Qualifications

IT Specialist - Cloud & Automation

Remote - (Occasional visit to London site)

Clearances - LBG Cleared

Contract - starting ASAP until June 2027 (Inside IR35)

Are you an experienced Google Cloud engineer with strong hands-on experience in Terraform, CI/CD and infrastructure automation?

We're looking for an IT Specialist in Cloud & Automation to join a major technology programme, building the automated and repeatable components that underpin an enterprise API platform using Google Cloud Platform (GCP), Terraform and Apigee X.

This role will suit someone who enjoys turning architecture into reliable, version-controlled automation and can work across cloud infrastructure, deployment pipelines, automated testing and API platform configuration.

Responsibilities

• Building reusable and version-controlled infrastructure using Terraform
• Developing automated configuration and environment modules for Apigee X and GCP
• Creating and maintaining CI/CD pipelines for validation, testing, deployment and promotion
• Automating API platform configuration and deployment processes
• Supporting environment separation and repeatable deployment across development, test and production environments
• Implementing automated validation and testing for cloud and API platform changes
• Developing and maintaining golden-path templates and reusable deployment patterns
• Supporting workload deployment and integration with Cloud Run
• Implementing appropriate IAM, service account and access-control configurations
• Troubleshooting cloud networking, connectivity, deployment and configuration issues
• Working closely with platform, application, security and architecture teams to ensure automation aligns with the approved technical design.

Previous experience

• Strong hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP)
• Strong commercial experience using Terraform for Infrastructure as Code
• Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines
• Experience with version-controlled infrastructure and automated deployment practices
• Strong understanding of GCP IAM, service accounts, networking and environment configuration
• Practical experience with Cloud Run and cloud-native workload deploymentExperience developing automated testing and validation for infrastructure or platform changes
• Practical knowledge of Apigee X and API platform concepts
• Experience with Git-based development and deployment workflows
• Scripting or development experience using Python, Bash or similar.
• Experience with GitHub, Harness, Backstage, GKE, Apigee X automation, API deployment, security controls or regulated enterprise environments would be advantageous.

This is a hands-on cloud engineering role where you'll be expected to turn technical designs into reliable, reusable automation rather than manually deploying individual resources. You'll need to be comfortable working across Terraform, pipelines, Google Cloud and Apigee X while collaborating closely with engineering and architecture teams.
