Red Dot Search UK Limited seeks a hands-on Head of IT Operations in Bolton. You will lead the service desk and infrastructure across two sites and remote workers, ensuring system stability, performance, and security while remaining involved in complex projects and major incidents.

You will manage budgets, suppliers and IT policy, with responsibility for Windows Server, virtualization, Microsoft 365, networking, and security compliance.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in senior infrastructure engineering; 2+ years in a leadership role
• Experience leading a service desk or IT operations team across multiple sites
• Strong hands-on Windows Server, virtualization, Microsoft 365 and networking
• Proven incident, problem and change management
• Security and compliance experience (Cyber Essentials Plus, CIS Benchmarks, pen test remediation)
• Backup and disaster recovery design and testing with tools like Veeam
• PowerShell or similar scripting
• Track record of delivering end-to-end projects
• Ability to explain technical risk to non-technical leaders
• AI literacy; interest in bringing in AI tools for teams
• Nice to have: Mitel MiVoice or similar telephony, Dell PowerEdge, enterprise storage, ITIL, Intune or Action1, AI solutions onboarding, FCA-regulated experience

• Manage budgets, suppliers, licences and hardware refresh
• Drive change management and IT policy documentation
• Oversee patching, vulnerability management and security monitoring
• Lead major incidents and post-incident reviews
• Oversee backup, DR and business continuity testing
• Guide automation using scripting and AI tools
