Job Description:

IT Network & Telecommunications Administrator

Salary: £36,000 - £48,000 per annum (depending on experience)

Hours: Monday to Friday, 8.30am - 5.30pm (40 hour week)

Location: Southampton office based

Purpose of the Role

Responsible for efficiently managing technology through the use of tools and scripting. Organizes, leads, and coordinates with other parts of IT to ensure components of overall system are managed.

  • Designs and develops complex, integrated solutions to meet business requirements or enhance performance of Garmin’s network and telecommunications systems
  • Performs and evaluates costs analyses and vendor comparisons for small through large scale projects to ensure cost-effective and efficient operations. Measures feasibility of various approaches and makes recommendations
  • Continuously develop technical subject matter expertise on established and emerging network & telecommunications systems and other network & telecommunications technologies
  • Communicate effectively regarding system operations and environment changes
  • Adhere to SOX, PCI, and other regulatory requirements as dictated
  • Understand and avoid capacity, redundancy, and health constraints of network & telecommunications systems
  • Ensure that all security requirements are met or exceeded
  • Demonstrate proficient use and knowledge of standards and procedures
  • Communicate in written and verbal form effectively in a large team or departmental setting
  • Apply Garmin’s Mission Statement and Quality Policy and exhibit enthusiasm for and a desire to see Garmin succeed
  • Serve as a mentor to less experienced IT Administrators (Administrator 1)
  • Provide reliable solutions to a variety of problems using sound problem solving techniques including performing root cause analysis and identification of corrective action for given problems
  • Perform and plan minor version upgrades
  • Use tools and scripting to efficiently manage technology
  • Make recommendations for component level improvements
  • Identify interdependencies in system and application components
  • Coordinate cross team non-project changes
  • Participate in roadmap planning for systems or applications
  • Organize and lead meetings with users of IT systems
  • Understand change is important and adapt well
  • Welcome constructive feedback as an opportunity to improve
  • Approach situations with professionalism, especially when conflicts arise
  • Monitor appropriate levels of security access
Education & Experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree (or equivalent) in Computer Science, Information Technology, Management Information Systems, Business or another technology related field OR 2 years relevant experience AND an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience
  • Ability to solve moderately complex technical problems independently
  • Experience in successful implementation of technology solutions
  • Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills in small team settings
  • Consistent quality and organization in work documentation
  • Deep understanding of IT Infrastructure and interdependencies, including Telephony: Avaya, SIP, Microsoft Teams Voice
