Job Description:
IT Network & Telecommunications Administrator
Salary: £36,000 - £48,000 per annum (depending on experience)
Hours: Monday to Friday, 8.30am - 5.30pm (40 hour week)
Location: Southampton office based

Purpose of the Role
Responsible for managing technology efficiently through tools and scripting. Organizes, leads, and coordinates with other IT departments to ensure system components are well-managed.
- Designs and develops complex, integrated solutions to meet business needs or improve Garmin’s network and telecommunications systems.
- Performs cost analyses and vendor comparisons for projects to ensure cost-effective operations. Evaluates approaches and makes recommendations.
- Continuously develops expertise on current and emerging network & telecommunications technologies.
- Communicates effectively about system operations and changes.
- Adheres to SOX, PCI, and other regulatory standards.
- Ensures network & telecommunications systems meet capacity, redundancy, and health requirements.
- Maintains or exceeds security standards.
- Uses standards and procedures proficiently.
- Communicates clearly in writing and verbally within teams or departments.
- Aligns with Garmin’s Mission Statement and Quality Policy, and supports Garmin’s success.
- Mentors less experienced IT Administrators.
- Provides reliable solutions to problems using sound troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and corrective actions.
- Performs minor system upgrades and version updates.
- Uses tools and scripting for efficient management.
- Makes component improvement recommendations.
- Identifies system and application interdependencies.
- Coordinates cross-team changes outside projects.
- Participates in system or application roadmap planning.
- Leads meetings with IT users.
- Adapts well to change and values constructive feedback.
- Handles conflicts professionally.
- Monitors appropriate security access levels.
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree (or equivalent) in a related field OR 2 years relevant experience, with a combination of education and experience.
- Ability to solve moderately complex technical problems independently.
- Experience in implementing technology solutions successfully.
- Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Effective documentation and organizational skills.
- Deep understanding of IT infrastructure, including Telephony: Avaya, SIP, Microsoft Teams Voice.
