Microsoft Azure and M365 Cloud Manager
Skillsoft is seeking an experienced Microsoft Cloud Manager to lead our Azure and Microsoft 365 teams in the United Kingdom. This is a player-coach role and is ideal for someone who thrives in both strategic leadership and hands-on technical execution. In this role, you will have the opportunity to be responsible for the design, delivery, and operation of our Azure and M365 platforms, ensuring they are secure, scalable, and aligned with business goals.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and mentor a cross-functional team of Azure and M365 engineers.
- Act as a technical authority and escalation point for complex cloud issues.
- Drive cloud strategy and roadmap in collaboration with architecture, security, and business stakeholders.
- Foster a DevOps culture of automation, continuous improvement, and knowledge sharing.
- Design, build, and manage scalable, secure, and cost-efficient Azure infrastructure.
- Champion Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Bicep, or similar tools.
- Implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions.
- Oversee containerization and orchestration using ACS, AKS, Kubernetes, and GitOps.
- Ensure robust monitoring, alerting, and incident response processes are in place.
- Drive platform innovation through automation, tooling, and performance optimization.
Microsoft 365 Platform
- Oversee the administration and lifecycle of M365 services including Copilot, Exchange Online, SharePoint, Teams, OneDrive, and Intune.
- Ensure compliance, governance, and security policies are enforced across M365 tenants.
- Collaborate with security and compliance teams to manage identity, access, and data protection.
- Lead M365 adoption initiatives and support end-user enablement and training.
- Monitor service health, usage analytics, and license optimization.
Skills & Qualifications Requirements:
- 10+ years of progressive professional experience in Engineering and hands-on experience with Azure IaaS and PaaS services with a Bachelor’s degree or commensurate experience
- Minimum 2+ years of leading multiple direct reports experience being a hands on player / coach
- Robust knowledge of Terraform, Bicep, GitHub Actions, and scripting (PowerShell, Python, or Node.js).
- Experience with AKS, Kubernetes, and GitOps methodologies.
- Familiarity with Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, and Defender for Cloud.
- Deep understanding of cloud security, identity management, and cost governance.
Microsoft 365 Knowledge
- Experience managing M365 services and administration portals.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Purview, Defender for M365, and compliance center.
- Understanding of hybrid identity (Azure AD Connect, Entra ID) and conditional access policies.
- Experience with Intune and endpoint management is a plus.
- Demonstrated experience leading technical teams in a fast-paced, agile environment.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to balance hands-on technical work with strategic planning and team development.
Preferred Qualifications
- Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert or equivalent.
- ITIL Foundation or experience in SRE/Service Operations.
- Experience with Agile, Scrum, or Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) methodologies.
