IT Manager School Environment (Temp to Perm)

Location: Hammersmith, West London
Salary: £46,452 £49,562 per annum (DOE, Support Staff Scale P02 Pt35 Pt38)
Hours: 8:00am 4:00pm, Monday to Friday
Start Date: ASAP
Contract Type: Temporary to Permanent

About the Role:

Our client, a highly successful and well-established secondary school in Hammersmith, is seeking an experienced and proactive IT Manager to join their team on a full-time, temp-to-perm basis.

This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled IT professional to take ownership of all aspects of the school s IT systems and infrastructure. You will ensure reliable, secure, and efficient technology services that support teaching, learning, and administration across the school.

You ll work closely with senior leaders to deliver an effective digital strategy and manage a small IT support team. This role would suit someone with strong leadership, technical expertise, and a service-focused approach.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the school s IT infrastructure, systems, and network security
  • Oversee Microsoft 365, Windows Server, and cloud-based environments (Azure)
  • Ensure data protection and GDPR compliance across all systems
  • Deliver first- and second-line support to staff and students
  • Manage IT budgets, procurement, and supplier relationships
  • Train and support staff in using digital tools and platforms effectively
  • Lead on cybersecurity, disaster recovery, and safeguarding protocols

Requirements:

  • Degree in IT, Computer Science, or a related discipline (or equivalent experience)
  • Minimum 3 years experience in IT management or senior technical support
  • Strong knowledge of networking, firewalls, and virtual environments
  • Proven ability to lead projects and manage small teams
  • Excellent communication, organisation, and problem-solving skills
  • Experience in a school or education environment desirable
