Job summary

QinetiQ Group plc is seeking an IT Infrastructure Engineer to develop and stabilise critical infrastructure for maritime and defence programmes. You will work hands-on across server and virtualization environments, stabilising existing systems while contributing to the design and build of next-generation systems.

You will migrate and optimise VMware stacks, document technical artefacts, mentor junior engineers, and travel to BUTEC in Scotland roughly every 2–3 months for essential installation

Qualifications

• Strong experience in IT infrastructure with a focus on server and virtualisation technologies.
• Hands-on experience with VMware and virtualised environments.
• Experience working with Windows Server in complex environments.
• Proven ability to troubleshoot, stabilise and improve infrastructure systems.

Responsibilities

• Supporting and delivering server and virtualisation infrastructure solutions across key projects.
• Migrating and optimising environments into VMware-based virtual stacks.
• Collaborating with network engineers to stabilise and improve infrastructure environments.
• Building, configuring and integrating systems across physical and virtual platforms.
• Producing technical documentation, test plans and implementation artefacts.
• Engaging with stakeholders and mentoring junior engineers within the team.
• Visits to the British Underwater Test and Evaluation Centre (BUTEC) in Scotland for 1 week every 2 to 3 months.
