Job summary

VIQU IT is seeking an experienced Infrastructure Engineer for a 12-month contract in Fareham. You will join an established IT team to support, develop, and secure a highly available infrastructure environment across on-premises and cloud platforms.

The role covers Windows Server, VMware, cloud integration, and networking with a mix of BAU, troubleshooting, and involvement in projects, migrations, and platform upgrades. Onsite, five days a week in Fareham.

Qualifications

• Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft Windows Server and Active Directory.
• Experience with VMware vSphere/ESXi/vCenter environments.
• Experience supporting Azure or AWS infrastructures.
• Solid knowledge of networking (TCP/IP, VLANs, routing, VPNs, firewalls).
• Experience in hybrid on-premises/cloud environments.
• Experience with monitoring, backup and recovery technologies.
• Good troubleshooting and problem-solving skills across complex infra.
• PowerShell or scripting/automation experience.

Responsibilities

• Administer, support, and maintain Windows Server environments including AD, Group Policy, DNS and DHCP.
• Manage VMware vSphere/ESXi/vCenter environments including VMs, hosts, clusters, storage, and patching.
• Support Azure or AWS infrastructure, including compute, storage, networking, identity, monitoring and backup.
• Work across hybrid infrastructure environments spanning on-premises, virtualization and cloud platforms.
• Support core networking infrastructure (LAN/WAN, VLANs, routing, switching, VPNs, firewalls).
• Troubleshoot complex infrastructure issues across server, virtualization, cloud and network environments.
• Contribute to infrastructure projects, migrations, upgrades and transformation initiatives.
• Support backup, disaster recovery, and infrastructure resilience.
• Provide 3rd line technical support and conduct root cause analysis.
• Maintain technical documentation and contribute to improvements and automation.

Infrastructure Engineer – 12-month contract – Fareham

My longstanding customer is seeking an experienced Infrastructure Engineer to join an established IT team, supporting, and developing a secure, resilient, and highly available infrastructure environment.

This is a hands-on infrastructure role covering Windows Server, VMware, cloud, and networking, with a mixture of BAU support, technical troubleshooting and involvement in infrastructure projects, migrations, and platform upgrades.

Essential Technical Experience from the Infrastructure Engineer:

• Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft Windows Server.
• Good knowledge of Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, and DHCP.
• Practical experience with VMware vSphere, ESXi and vCenter.
• Experience supporting Microsoft Azure or AWS infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities of the Infrastructure Engineer:

• Support backup, disaster recovery, and infrastructure resilience.
• Provide 3rd line technical support and carry out root cause analysis where required.

The Infrastructure Engineer is required to be onsite, 5 days a week in Fareham.
