Job summary

QinetiQ is seeking an IT Infrastructure Engineer to support server and virtualization environments across major projects. The role involves migrating to VMware stacks, collaborating with network engineers, and building integrated systems on both physical and virtual platforms.

The position requires strong Windows Server experience, proactive troubleshooting, and the ability to work autonomously within a team.

Qualifications

Strong experience in IT infrastructure with a focus on server and virtualisation technologies.
Hands-on experience with VMware and virtualised environments.
Experience working with Windows Server in complex environments.
Proven ability to troubleshoot, stabilise and improve infrastructure systems.
Experience working in collaborative engineering teams and engaging with stakeholders.
Ability to take ownership, work autonomously and contribute to team success.
Willingness to learn and demonstrate the required level of experience.

Responsibilities

Support and deliver server and virtualisation infrastructure solutions across key projects.
Migrate and optimise environments into VMware-based virtual stacks.
Collaborate with network engineers to stabilise and improve infrastructure environments.
Build, configure and integrate systems across physical and virtual platforms.
Produce technical documentation, test plans and implementation artefacts.
Engage with stakeholders and mentor junior engineers within the team.
Travel to the British Underwater Test and Evaluation Centre for essential installation and maintenance works every 2 to 3 months.
