An 18-month fixed-term post in the end user computing team at Kent Fire and Rescue Service, created to release capacity from routine device administration. The work centres on automating endpoint management through Microsoft Intune and MECM, cutting repetitive manual tasks and improving compliance and remediation. The role has a protected improvement remit, so it is not absorbed into day-to-day support, and it works alongside the DevOps engineer. Fit depends on prior experience of enterprise endpoint management and PowerShell.
What the job involves
- Develop, implement and maintain automation for endpoint configuration, compliance, remediation, provisioning, application deployment and device lifecycle
- Design, build, test and maintain automation using Intune, MECM and scripting, particularly PowerShell
- Identify repetitive, manual, error-prone or inefficient EUC processes and assess them for automation, simplification or standardisation
- Ensure automation is reliable, supportable, documented and maintainable by the permanent EUC team
- Build exception handling so failures can be identified, investigated and recovered from without adding operational risk
- Own automation, optimisation and continuous improvement of endpoint-management processes within the EUC function
- Work closely with the DevOps engineer and colleagues across Infrastructure, Development, Applications, Cyber Security and Service Delivery
- Protect the improvement remit so the role is not absorbed into day-to-day EUC support
