Job summary

QinetiQ Limited in Farnborough is seeking an IT Engineer to join a strong team delivering IT solutions for projects and customers. The role is on-site, 37 hours per week, at a state-of-the-art facility. You will lead technical tasks, mentor juniors, and build hardware/software systems.

The successful candidate will have a degree in science or engineering and experience across Windows, Linux, networks, Hyper-V, and be able to work with stakeholders and deliver pragmatic technical outputs.

Qualifications

• A first degree in Science or Engineering or equivalent on-the-job experience.
• Experience in IT engineering and ability to work with broad IT concepts.
• Experience with Windows Client/Server, Networking, Virtualisation (Hyper-V) and Linux.

Responsibilities

• Deliver hardware/software builds and systems installation and integration.
• Technically lead small projects or parts of larger projects to deliver solutions.
• Build and maintain relationships with customers.
• Produce technical outputs including documentation, test plans, user guides and design documents.
• Provide mentoring support to junior colleagues.
• Tackle increasing complexity by deriving solutions from existing practices.

The Role

As an IT Engineer, you will join a strong team of engineers providing expertise and providing IT supporting the delivery of projects and delivering IT solutions to our customers.

Day-to-day, you’ll engage with customers and stakeholders in supporting the delivery of projects and leading the delivery of complex technical tasks, as directed by the Technical lead.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Delivering Hardware/Software builds and Systems Installation and Integration
• Technically leading small projects or certain parts of larger projects to deliver solutions
• Building and maintaining strong relationships with customers
• Delivering outputs and providing pragmatic solutions which may include Technical presentations, Technical documentation, Test plans and reports, user guides and work instructions and Design or process documents
• Providing mentoring support to junior colleagues
• Undertaking tasks of increasing complexity through the derivation of solutions using existing practices

Essential experience of the IT Engineer:

• Previous experience of working in an IT engineering role
• The ability to work with a broad and comprehensive range of concepts and principles within the areas of IT
• Broad experience of Windows Client/Server Infrastructure, Networking, Virtualisation (Hyper-V) and Linux

Essential qualifications for the IT Engineer:

• A first degree in Science or Engineering or equivalent on the job experience
