Job summary

QinetiQ in Farnborough is recruiting an IT Engineer to join a skilled team delivering IT solutions and project support on-site. The role involves hardware/software builds, installation and integration, and mentoring junior colleagues.

You will engage with customers and stakeholders to deliver complex IT tasks under the guidance of a technical lead. The position is full-time, 37 hours per week, on-site at Farnborough, with a salary between £51,975 and £57,750 depending on experience, plus

The Role

As an IT Engineer, you will join a strong team of engineers providing expertise and providing IT supporting the delivery of projects and delivering IT solutions to our customers.

Day-to-day, you’ll engage with customers and stakeholders in supporting the delivery of projects and leading the delivery of complex technical tasks, as directed by the Technical lead.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Delivering Hardware/Software builds and Systems Installation and Integration
• Technically leading small projects or certain parts of larger projects to deliver solutions
• Building and maintaining strong relationships with customers
• Delivering outputs and providing pragmatic solutions which may include Technical presentations, Technical documentation, Test plans and reports, user guides and work instructions and Design or process documents
• Providing mentoring support to junior colleagues
• Undertaking tasks of increasing complexity through the derivation of solutions using existing practices

Essential experience of the IT Engineer:

• Previous experience of working in an IT engineering role
• The ability to work with a broad and comprehensive range of concepts and principles within the areas of IT
• Broad experience of Windows Client/Server Infrastructure, Networking, Virtualisation (Hyper-V) and Linux

Essential qualifications for the IT Engineer:

• A first degree in Science or Engineering or equivalent on the job experience
