Job summary

Protocol Education Ltd is recruiting an IT & Computer Science Teacher for a specialist SEN school. The role involves delivering engaging lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4, focusing on computing, digital technology and vocational skills within a supportive multidisciplinary team.

We are seeking a dedicated educator with a passion for IT, capable of supporting pupils with SEND/SEMH and promoting safeguarding and inclusive practices across the school. QTS or relevant qualifications are desirable.

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic IT & Computer Science Teacher to join our specialist SEN school. As our IT & Computer Science Teacher, you will deliver engaging, accessible and future-focused lessons that spark curiosity, encourage problem-solving and bring technology to life. Through practical, hands-on learning, you will inspire pupils across Key Stages 3 and 4 to explore computing, digital technology and vocational pathways while building their self-belief and aspirations.

The Role

Working as part of a supportive multidisciplinary team, you will create personalised learning experiences that meet the diverse needs of pupils with SEND and SEMH needs. You will work closely with therapists, families and colleagues to ensure every young person feels supported, challenged and empowered to achieve their full potential.

Alongside delivering high-quality teaching, you will help develop exciting vocational opportunities that enable pupils to discover new interests and gain valuable skills for the future.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver engaging IT and Computer Science lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4, linked to the National Curriculum.
• Develop pupils' digital literacy, coding, computational thinking and technology skills.
• Create inspiring and personalised learning experiences tailored to a wide range of SEND and SEMH needs.
• Support pupils in developing confidence, independence and positive attitudes towards learning.
• Act as a Form Tutor, promoting pupil wellbeing, academic progress and personal development.
• Work collaboratively with the therapy team to design learning opportunities that reflect individual needs and outcomes.
• Monitor progress through effective assessment and implement interventions to maximise achievement.
• Deliver practical and vocational learning opportunities that develop employability skills and broaden future aspirations.
• Build positive and trusting relationships with pupils, helping them feel safe, valued and motivated to learn.
• Work closely with parents, carers and external agencies to ensure a joined-up approach to support.
• Contribute to the development of SEND provision and inclusive practices across the school.
• Embrace innovation and emerging technologies to enhance teaching and learning.
• Play an active role in wider school development and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Promote safeguarding, wellbeing and inclusion in all aspects of school life.

About You

We are looking for someone who:

• Has a passion for IT, Computer Science and digital technology.
• Holds Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or relevant teaching qualifications (desirable).
• Has experience teaching IT, Computing or Computer Science, or relevant industry experience.
• Understands or is keen to develop their knowledge of SEND and SEMH needs.
• Is creative, adaptable and able to engage pupils with a range of learning needs.
• Can build positive relationships with pupils, families and colleagues.
• Has excellent communication, organisational and classroom management skills.
• Is committed to helping young people develop skills, confidence and independence.
• Maintains high expectations while providing appropriate support and encouragement.
• Is passionate about safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
• Is eager to contribute to the wider life and development of the school.
