Job summary

Smart Search Technical Ltd in Nuneaton is seeking an experienced HGV Fitter to join our maintenance team. You will service, maintain and repair HGV/LGV vehicles and associated equipment, and prepare them for annual testing.

The role requires hands-on fault finding, roadworthiness checks and accurate maintenance records. IRTEC certification is essential, with NVQ or equivalent qualifications preferred; HGV license is advantageous but not essential.

Qualifications

• IRTEC certification is essential.
• Experience diagnosing mechanical faults on HGVs/LGVs.
• NVQ or equivalent mechanical qualification preferred, but not essential.
• HGV licence advantageous but not essential.

Responsibilities

• Service, maintain and repair HGV/LGV vehicles and associated equipment
• Carry out routine maintenance and annual test preparation
• Diagnose faults and complete repairs efficiently and safely
• Inspect vehicles and identify defects or required repairs
• Carry out road tests and safety checks where required
• Maintain accurate maintenance records and paperwork
• Ensure vehicles are maintained to the required legal and safety standards
• Work on a range of specialist equipment and ancillary machinery
• Support the wider maintenance operation when required
• Follow company Health & Safety and environmental procedures
