Job summary

BBC Sport is seeking a Systems Engineer (IP) to own and develop LiveU, WMT and streaming encoder contribution technologies, enabling live sports content to reach audiences wherever they are. You will plan and support streaming productions, collaborating with production teams, engineers, and third-party platforms to deliver reliable IP-based solutions that keep live operations robust and scalable.

Based in Salford with hybrid working, you’ll help shape how live content is captured, transported

Qualifications

Experience with broadcast, streaming or IP-based systems in an operational/engineering support role.
Strong understanding of IP networking in media/workflow contexts.
Experience supporting time-critical services and rapid fault resolution.
Proven teamwork and communication with production teams, engineers and external partners.
Proactive in learning new technologies and processes.

Responsibilities

Configure, operate and monitor IP contribution and streaming technologies for live sports productions.
Provide technical support for live events, troubleshooting to maintain reliability and quality.
Collaborate with production teams, engineers and external suppliers to deliver IP-based solutions.
Assist with testing, deployment and support of new streaming technologies and workflows.
Develop expertise in IP/streaming tech and drive continuous improvements across BBC Sport's workflows.
