Job summary

BBC Group and Public Services in Salford is seeking a Systems Engineer (IP) to own and develop LiveU, WMT and streaming encoder contribution technologies for delivering live sports content to audiences anywhere.

You will plan and support streaming productions, collaborating with production teams, engineers and third-party platforms to deliver reliable, scalable IP-based solutions that keep BBC Sport’s live operations running smoothly during major events.

Qualifications

Experience with broadcast, streaming, media tech or IP-based systems in an operations/engineering role.
Solid understanding of IP networking for media workflows.
Experience supporting live or time-critical services and triage.
Strong teamwork and communication with production/engineering partners.
Proactive learner focusing on reliable, high-quality support.

Responsibilities

Configure, operate and monitor IP contribution and streaming tech to deliver content reliably.
Provide technical support for live and planned events, troubleshoot issues in time-critical contexts.
Collaborate with production teams, engineers and external suppliers on IP-based solutions.
Test, deploy and support new technologies to improve reliability and scalability.
Develop IP/streaming expertise and support digital/streaming-focused production.
