Job summary

Gill Cooke Personnel Ltd T/A The Recruitment Group in Birmingham (Coleshill area) is seeking an inventory controller for a state-of-the-art distribution centre. The role focuses on accurate stock management, cycle counts, audits, and documenting incoming/outgoing stock to ensure optimal warehouse efficiency.

You will work a full-time shift pattern (6am-2pm / 2pm-10pm, 2 weekly rotation) on-site, with a 5-of-7 days rota.

Qualifications

• Strong attention to detail and high numerical accuracy.
• Good communication skills (written and verbal).
• Proficient in inventory systems (WMS) and Microsoft Excel.

Pay rates

£12.80

£14.00 per hour for any hours worked after 10pm

We’re recruiting on behalf of a major global logistics partner that supports a leading social commerce platform. This is an exciting opportunity to join their brand-new, state of the art distribution centre in Birmingham.

What You’ll Be Doing

To ensure accurate, efficient, and well‑organised management of all warehouse inventory. This role is responsible for maintaining stock accuracy, supporting warehouse operations, conducting audits, and ensuring products are received, stored, and recorded correctly

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain accurate inventory records in the warehouse management system (WMS).
• Perform regular cycle counts, stocktakes, and inventory audits.
• Investigate stock discrepancies and implement corrective actions.
• Coordinate and process incoming and outgoing stock, ensuring proper documentation.
• Ensure products are stored in the correct locations
• Work closely with warehouse supervisors, purchasing, and production teams to resolve inventory issues.
• Prepare inventory reports for management, including variance analysis and stock ageing.
• Monitor stock levels and flag low or overstock situations.
• Ensure compliance with healthsafety, and housekeeping standards.
• Support process improvements related to inventory control and warehouse organisation.
