Job summary

Spring Brook Academy is seeking a dedicated staff member to support pupils with SEMH needs and challenging behaviours. You will provide pastoral support to enable personal, social and learning development, including interventions for reading and phonics.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting pupils with challenging behaviour and complex needs, preferably in an SEMH setting.
• Experience supporting personal, social or learning development from a pastoral perspective.
• Experience intervening to support pupils in crisis or trauma with emotional or educational support.
• Ability to use a nurturing, empathetic and holistic approach to behaviour management.
• Resilience to support SEMH pupils, viewing behaviour as communication of unmet needs.
• Experience delivering bespoke reading/phonics interventions to individuals or small groups.
• Experience working with colleagues to deliver bespoke strategies and interventions.
• Experience supervising pupils during lunch/break times as directed.
• Ability to build relationships with pupils, families and partners.
• Ability to work in a team and use initiative when needed.

• Soundexperience of supporting pupils who present with challenging behaviour andcomplex needs, preferably within an SEMH setting.
• Experience of supporting pupils to overcomebarriers to their personal, social or learning development from a pastoralperspective.
• Experience of intervening to support pupilsin crisis oraffected trauma by using either emotional or educational support.
• Anurturing, empathetic and holistic approach to behaviour management.
• The physicaland emotional resilience to support pupils with SEMH, understanding that allbehaviour is a form of communication and an indication of an unmet need.
• Experience of delivering bespoke interventionswith a focus on reading and phonics to individuals or small groups of pupils.
• Experienceof working in partnership with other staff members to support the delivery ofbespoke strategies and interventions.
• Experienceof supervising pupils over lunch and break times as directed.
