Job summary

Charles Taylor is seeking an experienced International Nurse Coordinator to manage global patient cases from Lakeside North Harbour, Portsmouth, with hybrid working options.

In this role you will triage, liaise with overseas teams, arrange UK/overseas bed placements, and support case managers with evidence-based care decisions while upholding the highest patient safety standards.

Qualifications

• A minimum of 5 years post registration experience.
• Recent work in an acute setting such as A&E or ICU.
• Strong English communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Ability to challenge medical teams with empathy and professionalism.

Responsibilities

• Respond to calls and triage patients and cases in a timely manner.
• Liaise with patients, hospitals and overseas medical staff to coordinate care.
• Prepare accurate reviews and reports for Case Managers.
• Keep Case Managers updated with cover decisions.
• Assess when patients are fit to return home and coordinate logistics.
• Provide safe, high-quality, evidence-based patient care.

International Nurse Coordinator

• Monday - Friday between 8:00 - 20:00 with weekends on a rota basis
• Lakeside North Harbour, Portsmouth/Hybrid
• Hybrid working is available once you are fully competent in the role and confidently settled into this position

You will manage patient cases around the world and you will be part of our team assessing whether medical treatment is appropriate, overseas facilities suitable, whether urgent evacuation is required and deciding how to get your patient back home. You will liaise directly with overseas treating teams, organise accepting beds in the UK and other countries. You will be exposed to the world of insurance medicine looking at cover decisions and working alongside your non-medical colleagues.

We are a friendly team of over 30 doctors and nurses working together to obtain the best outcome for our patients.

We are looking for nurses with broad knowledge bases who have worked in fields such as ICU, ED, cruise ship medicine or military medicine.

Duties and responsibilities of the International Nurse Coordinator:

• Respond to calls and, consult with clients and colleagues in a timely manner and always in accordance with triage priorities.
• Liaise with patients, hospitals, and medical staff across the globe to ensure the correct and appropriate treatment is being given
• Complete accurate and focussed reviews and reports
• Keep Case Managers updated with cover decisions
• Assess when and how patients are fit to return home
• Deal with all calls in confidence and in an empathetic manner
• Provide safe, high-quality, evidence-based patient care

Requirements:

• A minimum of 5 years post registration experience
• You must have recent work experience in an acute setting such as A&E or ICU.
• Good communication skills in English, both verbal and written
• Confidence to challenge treating medical teams
• Empathy and a desire to enhance the patient journey
• A strong work ethic
• IT competency
• UK nationality or unrestricted right to work in the UK
