Job summary

FJN Solutions is seeking an experienced nurse to join our international medical team as an International Nurse Coordinator in Portsmouth. You will manage complex cases worldwide, using clinical judgement to assess treatment options and coordinate care, including repatriations when required.

After a comprehensive 6-month training programme, you’ll join a hybrid role with progression opportunities into more senior positions, while maintaining high standards of patient outcomes and collaboration

Qualifications

• Minimum of 6 years' post-registration nursing experience.

If you’ve spent years building your clinical experience and are ready to step away from the ward without leaving your nursing skills behind, this could be a great next step.

We’re working with a well-established medical assistance organisation that is expanding its medical team and looking for experienced nurses to join them as International Nurse Coordinators.

This is not your typical desk job. You’ll be dealing with complex patient cases from around the world, using your clinical judgement to assess treatment, coordinate care and arrange repatriation where required.

You’ll be responsible for managing international medical cases, including:

• Assessing whether treatment and overseas facilities are appropriate
• Liaising with hospitals, doctors and treating teams around the world
• Coordinating patient repatriations and arranging receiving hospital beds
• Assessing when and how patients are fit to return home
• Making confident clinical decisions and challenging treatment plans where appropriate
• Providing support and advice to patients and medical teams
• Completing accurate clinical reviews and reports
• Working alongside non-medical colleagues and developing your knowledge of insurance medicine

They have nurses who have been with the organisation for 15–20+ years, creating a genuinely experienced and supportive medical environment.

What background are they looking for?

This role would suit an experienced nurse who has developed a broad clinical knowledge base and is confident making decisions independently.

Particularly relevant backgrounds include:

• A&E / ED
• ICU
• Flight Nurse
• Military nursing, particularly with deployment experience
• Cruise ship medicine
• Other environments where you’ve had to manage complex cases and work under pressure
• NHS Band 5 OR 6 +

You’ll need a minimum of 6 years' post-registration experience, strong communication skills and the confidence to take accountability for your decisions.

Most importantly, they’re looking for someone who genuinely cares about achieving the best outcome for the patient and who will thrive in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
