Job summary

JJ Food Service Ltd. Nottingham is seeking a Full Time Freezer/Operations Operative for our Shared Resources team in the Nottingham branch. You will handle frozen, chilled and ambient goods through receiving, storage, loading and delivery, ensuring accuracy, safety and GDPR compliance where applicable.

The role requires flexibility, good attention to detail and a practical approach to manual handling. Forklift licence is preferable, and prior experience in warehousing is beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Receive goods from suppliers, verify against delivery notes, unload, and report damaged or missing items.
• Prepare online and counter orders for collection according to invoices and picking lists.
• Receive and store returned items with accurate documentation.
• Store items in correct locations and check for damage or short-dated items.
• Load goods safely for dispatch and coordinate for stock takes and cyclic counts.
• Assist with delivery of items to customers following safety instructions.
• Ensure safe operation of equipment and adherence to health and safety policies.

Primary Responsibility

Handling frozen, chilled and ambient goods and products through receiving, storing, loading and delivery.

List Areas Of Daily And Long-term Responsibilities

• Receive goods from suppliers checking accuracy against delivery notes prior to unloading ensuring all damaged and missing goods are reported immediately.
• Ensure online and counter orders placed are prepared accurately for collection according to invoice and picking lists.
• Receive and store returned items from customers, completing and issuing accurate documentation as required.
• Store items safely in correct location.
• Check stock for damage, loss or short dated items reporting as required.
• Load goods accurately and safely to vehicles for dispatch.
• Coordinate and prepare for stock taking process.
• Conduct cyclic count and resolve discrepancies and queries in a timely manner.
• Assist with delivery of items to customers taking instruction as necessary to provide safe service of goods to customer.
• Ensure safe operation of company equipment in accordance with Health & Safety policies and procedures.
• Wear correct personal protective equipment including high visibility jacket and safety boots at all times.
• Ensure working area is clean, tidy and safe to operate within.
• Respond to and deal with customers in a polite and professional manner.
• Provide feedback to enhance product performance and service delivery.
• Seek to improve relations with regard to the provision of efficient communications to facilitate product. development and issue management.
• To ensure that the company internal/external customer care & equal opportunity policies are adhered to at all times.
• Ensure compliance with policies and procedures for Health & Safety.
• Adhere to all company policies, procedures and business requirements.

Education

4 GCSE’s A-C including English and Mathematics or equivalent qualifications

Relevant work experience will be considered

Physical Requirements

Lifting: The job will involve manual handling (lifting or moving products or equipment). You will be provided with training to undertake manual handling safely, using the equipment provided where necessary.

Physical requirements: pushing, pulling the trolley to carry the above items occasionally.

Equipment: you will be trained to use appropriate equipment depending on the load you are required to lift.
