Job summary

Freightliner is seeking a dedicated Train Driver to operate trains in line with Rules & Regulations and Defensive Driving Policy. You will be responsible for arriving on time, unsupervised traction movement, maintaining route knowledge, and reporting any safety or service issues promptly.

The role requires attention to signals, ability to adapt driving techniques to conditions, and compliance with uniform and safety clothing standards.

Qualifications

• Able to drive trains in accordance with Rules & Regulations and company standards.
• Familiar with Defensive Driving Policy and competency-based standards.

Responsibilities

• Attend and report for duty as directed and be physically fit for the role.
• Safely move traction unsupervised and monitor driving conditions.
• Obey signals and report irregularities to the Signalman.
• Explain delays to relevant personnel to keep stakeholders informed.
• Report safety incidents to Freightliner Control or Help Line.
• Maintain and update route knowledge and publications as required.
• Wear full uniform and safety clothing.
• Respond to service faults and assist in recovery efforts.
• Cover Standards Managers role when required by supervision.
• Undertake other duties as directed by Supervisor or Manager.
