Job summary

Freightliner Group Ltd is seeking a seasoned planner to deliver and maintain the Working Timetable, ensuring Freightliner’s services align with commercial needs. You will lead improvements in timetable performance, coordinate engineering access planning, and work with Network Rail and customers to minimise disruption.

The role requires strong analytical skills, deep knowledge of rail operations, and the ability to translate complex plans into actionable timetables.

Qualifications

• Extensive knowledge of freight train operations and railway geography.
• Experience with timetable planning processes and Network Code timelines.
• Ability to interpret engineering access requirements and develop timetable solutions.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with data-driven approach.
• Excellent stakeholder management across networks, customers and internal teams.

Responsibilities

• Deliver an efficient Working Timetable that meets commercial requirements.
• Maintain the Working Timetable for Freightliner’s services.
• Lead continuous improvement initiatives in timetable planning and capacity utilisation.
• Coordinate Engineering Access Planning to minimise operational impact.
• Represent Freightliner in industry planning forums for long-term plans.
• Produce detailed analyses, reports and recommendations for strategic decisions.
