Job summary

Aldwych Consulting is seeking an experienced Principal Electrical Engineer to lead electrical design across projects from concept to delivery in London/Croydon. You will own technical direction, manage design teams and liaise with clients, contractors and architects.

You will mentor junior and intermediate engineers, review calculations and drawings, ensure compliance with UK standards, and help develop the electrical engineering team and overall business.

Qualifications

• Significant professional experience in electrical building services engineering.
• Strong consultancy experience with a proven track record of delivering projects.
• Extensive knowledge of electrical building services design and UK standards.
• Experience taking technical ownership of projects.
• Strong client-facing and communication skills.
• Experience mentoring and developing junior and intermediate engineers.
• Good commercial awareness and understanding of project delivery.
• Strong AutoCAD skills; Revit/BIM experience would be advantageous.

The Role

We are looking for an experienced Principal Electrical Engineer to take a leading technical role within the business. This is an opportunity for a senior engineer who is confident taking ownership of projects, managing client relationships and providing technical direction to the wider team. You will be involved in:

• Leading the electrical design and delivery of projects from concept through to completion.
• Taking overall technical responsibility for electrical engineering elements of projects.
• Managing and coordinating electrical design teams and working closely with other disciplines.
• Developing and reviewing calculations, specifications, drawings and technical documentation.
• Providing technical guidance and mentoring to intermediate and junior engineers.
• Liaising directly with clients, contractors, architects and other project stakeholders.
• Attending design meetings, site visits and project reviews.
• Reviewing designs to ensure they meet relevant standards, regulations and client requirements.
• Supporting project planning, resourcing and delivery.
• Contributing to the continued development of the electrical engineering team and wider business.
• Identifying opportunities to improve technical standards, processes and project delivery.

About You

We are looking for an established senior electrical engineer who is ready to operate at Principal level or an experienced Principal Engineer looking for their next opportunity. You will ideally have:

• Significant professional experience in electrical building services engineering.
• Strong consultancy experience and a proven track record of delivering projects.
• Extensive knowledge of electrical building services design and relevant UK standards.
• Experience taking technical ownership of projects.
• Strong client-facing and communication skills.
• Experience mentoring and developing junior and intermediate engineers.
• Good commercial awareness and an understanding of project delivery.
• Strong AutoCAD skills; Revit/BIM experience would be advantageous.
• The ability to manage multiple projects and priorities effectively.
• A proactive approach and the confidence to make technical decisions and provide direction.
