Job summary

Carrington West is seeking an Intermediate Mechanical Engineer with around 2 years' post-graduate experience to join a growing consultancy in Greater London. You will move beyond traditional design and gain exposure to clients, project delivery, technical decision-making and the commercial side of engineering consultancy.

Qualifications

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
• Around 2 years post-graduation experience, ideally within building services or MEP consultancy.
• Technically strong with a genuine interest in mechanical building services.
• Naturally curious and keen to understand how systems and buildings work.
• A confident communicator who can engage with clients and wider project teams.
• Commercially aware and interested in the broader consultancy side of engineering.
• Comfortable taking ownership and responsibility for their work.
• Keen to develop beyond pure mechanical design.
• A collaborative team player who enjoys solving problems.

Responsibilities

• Support the delivery of mechanical building services designs across RIBA Stages 2-4.
• Produce mechanical calculations, specifications, drawings and technical documentation.
• Contribute to multidisciplinary MEP design projects across a range of sectors.
• Assist with HVAC system design, equipment selection and technical coordination.
• Support design reviews, coordination and technical problem solving.
• Assist with project reports, specifications and tender documentation.
• Support senior engineers and Directors with client-facing project work.
• Develop an understanding of wider consultancy services, including design management, technical due diligence and construction monitoring.
• Take increasing ownership of technical deliverables and project responsibilities.
• Work collaboratively with electrical engineers, architects, contractors, project managers and clients.
