Job summary

Humand Talent is seeking an Interim Software Engineering Manager for a six-month contract. You will guide architecture, align delivery with business goals and strengthen engineering practices while remaining hands-on.

The role requires leading an engineering team, shaping the technical roadmap for cloud, SaaS and AI initiatives, and collaborating with senior leaders. Hybrid work with some on-site in Oxfordshire; start date soon.

Qualifications

• Strong software architecture and system design experience.
• Experience leading software engineering teams and mentoring.
• Hands-on software development with code reviews.
• Knowledge of cloud platforms, SaaS products and digital transformation initiatives.
• Exposure to AI strategy or evaluating useful AI applications.

• Own the technical direction and evolution of a complex software platform.
• Align software architecture, delivery priorities and wider business objectives.
• Assess systems for scalability, security, reliability and maintainability.
• Shape future cloud, SaaS, digital product and AI opportunities at a strategic level.
• Provide architectural guidance and pragmatic leadership to an established engineering team.
• Strengthen development standards, governance and technical decision-making.
• Remain close to technology through design reviews and hands-on contribution.
• Influence cross-functional teams across software, systems engineering, product and leadership.
