Job summary

Bayman Atkinson Smythe Ltd in Preston is seeking a Senior Financial Accountant for a six-month fixed-term contract. The role offers hybrid working: three days in the office and two days working from home, with a salary up to £58,225 plus benefits.

You will prepare statutory financial statements, support audits, and provide IFRS guidance. The successful candidate will be fully qualified and able to work with auditors and the finance team with initiative.

Qualifications

• Fully qualified accountant with experience of working with auditors.
• Experience producing statutory financial statements and assisting year end.
• Knowledge of IFRS and regulatory requirements.
• Ability to liaise with tax advisers and external parties.

Responsibilities

• Prepare statutory financial statements and supporting working papers.
• Review draft accounts and disclosures with audit information.
• Provide guidance and training on year-end statutory/regulatory requirements (IFRS).
• Assist with VAT returns and other tax-related work with external advisers.
• Develop ERP reports and provide information for Corporation Tax provisions.
• Assist with Gift Aid calculations and balance sheet reconciliations.
• Identify process improvements to enhance financial operations.
• Undertake other duties appropriate to the role.

Senior Financial Accountant (6 month FTC) – Preston (3 days in the office / 2 at home) – to £58,225 + Benefits

Duties and responsibilities :

• Prepare statutory financial statements, supporting working papers and audit information.
• Review draft accounts, disclosures and supporting narratives as required.
• Provide guidance and training to the finance team on year-end statutory and regulatory requirements, including IFRS.
• Support the preparation of VAT returns and other tax-related work, liaising with external tax specialists.
• Work with tax advisers on the development and implementation of the VAT special method, providing reports and reviewing information.
• Provide ERP reports and supporting information for the calculation of Corporation Tax provisions.
• Assist with Corporation Tax queries and the preparation of Gift Aid calculations.
• Prepare and review balance sheet reconciliations, ensuring balances are appropriately supported and evidenced.
• Contribute to improvements that enhance the student experience.
• Undertake other duties appropriate to the level of the role.

It is essential you are a fully qualified accountant with experience of working with auditors, producing financial statements and assisting with year end. It is essential you can build and maintain positive relationships internally and externally and be able to work on your own initiative.
