Job summary

Teach Now is recruiting an experienced SENCO for an interim role at an academy in Welwyn Garden City, Hertfordshire. The placement is initially until late November 2026 with potential to extend. You will bring continuity, establish priorities quickly and oversee SEND provision during staff absence, keeping pupils at the heart of decisions.

You will need strong organisation, excellent communication and collaborative skills, plus a commitment to safeguarding and improving SEND outcomes for pupils.

Qualifications

• Previous experience working as a SENCO.
• Ability to start in November and manage priorities quickly.
• Knowledge of SEND provision, individual support planning and inclusive practice.
• Strong organisation, communication and collaborative working skills.
• Commitment to safeguarding and improving outcomes for pupils with SEND.
• Availability for a November start and initial cover period.

Responsibilities

• Review current SEND priorities and ongoing work.
• Coordinate support and communicate with colleagues.
• Help staff maintain consistent approaches to pupils needs.
• Keep SEND records, actions and reviews organised.
• Support communication with families and external professionals.
• Maintain clear handover of progress and outstanding priorities.
